10 years of UK B Corps

November 2025

This year marks a significant milestone for the B Corp movement in the UK, ten years since the first businesses committed to operating in an ethical way, helping to transform the global economy for the benefit of people, communities, and the planet.

Today, the UK is home to more than 2,600 certified B Corps of all sizes, collectively generating over £32 billion in revenue and employing over 190,000 people. Digitom is proud to be one of the UK’s Micro B Corps, having achieved certification in 2023 by meeting rigorous standards of social and environmental impact.

Kent B Local

We are fortunate to be part of an active and generous B Local community in Kent, run by volunteers who give their time to strengthen connections between purpose‑led businesses. To mark the anniversary, Elvis & Kresse and Cook, both founding members of the Kent B Corp community, hosted a special celebration bringing local businesses together to reflect on the journey so far.

B Lab UK CEO Chris Turner joined us for the afternoon, and we were pleased to support the event by capturing video and photography. Documenting moments like this matters. It creates a shared record of learning, progress and honest conversation among business owners and teams who are trying to do things differently.

“How can we deepen the impact, but also how can we start raising the ceiling? To say to government, to say to policymakers, change the rules.

“Change the way that all businesses operate, because we’ve proven it’s better for people, better for planet and it’s better for the economy.”

Reflect and Take 10

As a micro‑business, we may be small, but we are trusted by organisations of all sizes who share our belief that values should shape decisions, not sit alongside them. Our journey began around the same time as the UK B Corp movement, when we started working with clients who wanted to use communications, recruitment and Learning and Development films to support meaningful change.

Our work has ranged from e‑learning animations for global charities supporting women entrepreneurs in developing countries, to campaigns for local councils helping children understand the importance of recycling food waste, and communications for police forces introducing electric vehicles as part of their Net Zero Carbon commitments.

As we grew, we became more intentional about how our own values show up in practice. This has included offering pro bono support to charities and non‑profits, reducing our physical and digital carbon footprint, and contributing time to community and local government initiatives. Our Founder Tom Chown continues to volunteer with community groups and sits on local business development panels, representing the creative sector.

Using business for good

Although we are still relatively new to the global B Corp community, we see certification not as an endpoint but as a commitment to continual improvement. We do not always get everything right, but we are serious about learning, accountability and playing our part in driving positive change across the supply chain.

Looking ahead, we remain optimistic and will continue to support the B Corp movement, work with organisations who share our values, and use thoughtful, people‑led storytelling to help create a more sustainable and equitable future.
