The brief

Named after the aircraft flown during the Battle of Britain, Spitfire carries a strong connection to a moment of deep national significance, so for the 75th anniversary Shepherd Neame needed communications content for a Spitfire competition campaign.

The work had to celebrate the occasion with respect, while keeping the warmth, wit and brand character Spitfire drinkers know.

Our approach

As part of our Communications offering, we created animated brand content shaped around Shepherd Neame’s established campaign style.

We built on the visual world already familiar from the Spitfire TV campaign, featuring Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller as Second World War fighter pilots. This gave the campaign clear creative continuity across social, event and promotional channels.

The animation balanced period detail with a light comic touch, helping the campaign feel distinctive, accessible and on brand.

The outcome

The communications content ran across social channels and appeared at the Great British Beer Festival in London.

We also produced event film and photography, giving Shepherd Neame versatile assets for on-site engagement and wider campaign reach.

The project shows how strategic communications content can connect heritage, humour and live brand moments with confidence and care.

The campaign was recognised by the industry, winning Best Competition at the Beer Marketing Awards 2016.
