167 Catering Support Regiment

167 Catering Support Regiment RLC is the British Army’s only Army Reserve unit dedicated to catering operations, supporting training exercises, humanitarian deployments and military operations in challenging and remote locations.

The brief

The Ministry of Defence needed an Army recruitment film for 167 Catering Support Regiment RLC, the Army Reserve’s specialist catering unit.

The brief was to show the role clearly and credibly, helping prospective reservists understand the work, the culture and the commitment involved.

The film also needed to speak to serving personnel, presenting the regiment with confidence while supporting wider People and Culture recruitment objectives.

Our approach

We built the creative treatment around first-hand testimony, allowing reservists to describe their role, motivation and training in their own words. This gave the film an honest, self-authored voice.

Filming took place during training in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), where interviews were captured alongside live exercises in a real operational setting. The documentary style added texture, context and credibility without over-explaining the story.

The approach kept the focus on people rather than process, making the content more engaging for online audiences and more useful for those considering Army Reserve opportunities.

What the client said

“With a modest brief, Digitom deployed a formidable film crew to the hostile and damp Welsh hills.

“The end result captured the unique nature of our regiment, exceeding our expectations.”

The outcome

The film gives the Army a clear and adaptable recruitment asset for Army Jobs social channels, recruitment events and wider campaign use.

It presents the regiment’s professionalism, teamwork and purpose in a format that is easy to understand and share.

It also provides the Ministry of Defence with a strong model for future employer brand storytelling, showing how authentic people-led content can support long-term talent attraction.
