Stagecoach is one of the UK’s largest bus operators, providing services that connects communities across England, Scotland and Wales.
The brief
Stagecoach needed a national learning and development film series to support first use inspection training across its UK bus network.
The content needed to explain updated legal responsibilities in clear, accessible language.
It also had to show colleagues how to use the new vehicle defect card with confidence, building understanding, consistency and confidence across a large, dispersed workforce.
Our approach
We recommended a peer-led presenter-led format, guided by two bus drivers to help the learning feel credible, relatable and easy to follow.
Working closely with Stagecoach’s Operations team, we shaped the content into five practical learning and development modules, filmed over days at the Thanet depot in Kent.
The modules introduce the legal framework for daily vehicle inspections, before demonstrating internal and external checks in a clear, consistent format.
What the client said
“Digitom produced these videos from start to finish with very minimal brief from us, we are very happy with the outcome.”

The outcome
The series of films now form part of Stagecoach’s national mandatory training programme, shared through their internal communications platform Blink, to support training for 23,000 colleagues across the UK.
The modules give teams a repeatable resource for safety training, helping standardise first use inspection practice. They also recognise the skill, judgement and professionalism of the people carrying out the checks.
