Major incidents

British Transport Police is the national force for Scotland, England, and Wales, responsible for keeping the rail network safe for operators, colleagues and passengers across the country.

The brief

We were asked to create a Learning and Development film for British Transport Police to help colleagues understand the reality of major incident response through lived experience.

The aim was to create something honest, thoughtful and useful for people who may one day face similar pressure.

Our approach

We worked with the Learning and Development team to shape a documentary treatment built on real stories, behavioural insight and operational experience.

The film features officers involved in the Stonehaven derailment, the Manchester Arena attack and the Croydon tram crash, alongside specialist and armed response teams, frontline patrols at King’s Cross, and communications officers in the London control room. Relevant news footage adds context throughout.

Shot in a cinematic documentary style, the film focuses on decision-making, coordination and consequence during major incident response.

What the client said

“These stories really resonated with our people and convey the gravity of the subject matter, resulting in an impactful and wonderfully shot film that I’m sure we’ll use for years to come.”

The outcome

The result is a documentary-style Learning and Development film that brings major incident response to life through first-hand testimony, helping colleagues reflect on roles, judgement and standards under pressure.

It supports shared learning across teams, strengthens understanding of incident response training, and helps improve decision-making in real-world situations.
